Updating the kids’ summer wardrobes

I love buying new clothes, whether it’s for the children, myself or my hubby, there’s just something about it that makes me smile, especially for a summer wardrobe. I think Isabella will soon be following in my footsteps too as she loves to choose her own clothes now.

When updating the children’s summer wardrobe, I tend to buy a few really nice pieces (almost like a capsule wardrobe for the season) and then pad it out with cheaper basic items. This way we can still wear beautiful clothes but it makes it a little more affordable especially as they grow out of them so quickly.

Isabella always asks to wear a dress. It could be snowing outside and she’d come floating down the stairs in a pretty summer dress. So whatever the weather, we always look for dress options for her. But it can’t just be any dress. Oh no! The dress has to have a certain amount of ‘twirl’ to it. If she can’t twirl, it’s not for her.

The  Girls Mayoral Flower Dress from ODsdesigner clothes is perfect for summer; it’s light, floaty and so pretty. We love the design as well as the gorgeous colours. Teamed with some sparkly sandals, this super sweet summer dress would work from day to night.

Benjamin is a little less fussy and for the summer will likely spend most of it in an array of shorts and t-shirts but it’s still nice to have good quality outfits for trips and holidays. Items like the Boys BillyBandit Polo Shirt are perfect; they are comfortable for him to wear and also look really smart, especially paired with these cute shorts. He has a pair of navy boat shoes that work perfectly to tie up the smart casual look.

Once we have a few key pieces, we tend to buy quite neutral basic items so we can change the look slightly or if we’re heading to the beach or the pool it doesn’t matter if they get caked in sun cream.
