OXO Tot Seedling High Chair, Graphite (First Impressions)

We were asked to review the new OXO Tot Seedling High Chair and we jumped at the chance as I love the OXO Tot range. Today, I’m just going to talk about my first impressions of the chair.

When it arrived I was so excited, I couldn’t even wait for my husband to get home to put it up; I just got it straight out and managed to put it together in minutes (even with a toddler around!). The instructions are really clear but I think the assembly of the item is so easy, it doesn’t really even need any!

So we put it up and Isabella was itching to give it a test drive. She immediately climbed in (something I would have been worried about in other high chairs). This high chair is so sturdy that I felt completely at ease when my toddler wanted to climb in and out by herself. The thing that makes the highchair so sturdy is the footprint and the fact it doesn’t fold up (both a positive and possibly a negative). It’s a really strong metal frame which locks into place. The seat is really big too – a huge bonus when it’s meant to accommodate up to a 3 year old! Others look tiny in comparison.

Even though the frame is solid, it has lockable wheels on the legs which makes it really easy to manoeuvre both from room to room and just away from the table etc.

The seat cover is made from a synthetic nylon (we have the graphite) and it looks really contemporary and stylish; it’s super easy to clean and (so far) hasn’t stained – even with lots of spag bol! It’s much more durable than the more plastic high chair covers which end up splitting and cracking.

The tray is a great size and two things I really like about it are: the fact that when you remove it and put it down (usually with the remains of dinner on it) it lays flat so you don’t need to worry about it tipping over and the other thing is the removable top tray – perfect for dinner followed by pudding! It also stows away nicely on the back of the chair when not in use.

The OXO Tot Seedling offers a 5 point harness system which ensures your tot is safe while they are in there! Isabella loves doing the clips up herself and will actually spend hours playing with the buckles on here.

From my first impressions, my only one concern is the size of the overall footprint purely because it doesn’t fold away for storage but I will continue using it for a whole before letting you know my overall thoughts on it. For now, I’d say it looks very stylish and contemporary and Isabella feels like it’s a big girl chair a) because of the size of the seat and b) because it doesn’t have the usual patterned seat cover. So far, so good!
