Mustela Dermo-Cleansing Gel and Vitamin Barrier Cream 1-2-3

I’ve been using some of Mustela’s baby products on Benjamin for the past few weeks and I’ve got to say, the more I’ve been using them, the more I like them – especially the Dermo-Cleansing gel. IMG_0212.JPG When I first used the Dermo-Cleansing gel, I wasn’t overly keen on it as it didn’t smell of very much but on hindsight, that just goes to show that there isn’t any nasties in the soap-free cleansing gel. It actually has a nice smell, it’s just not overpowering. It’s suitable from birth as well as older babies. Its formula is enriched with 90% ingredients of natural original including Avocado Perseose®, a patented ingredient that reinforces the skin’s barrier, plus hydrating glycerin and a gentle coco glucoside cleansing base. There are no parabens, phthalates, or phenoxyethanol and it’s hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested.

I had been using it on Benjamin’s skin since he was about 6 weeks and it ensured his skin stayed soft and smooth but when he started to develop cradle cap, I also tried it on his hair as it has an emollient in and it has actually cleared his cradle cap and kept it away.

The gel lathers up a little but you don’t actually need it to lather up much and your skin is left feeling clean and soft (yes, I tried it on myself too!). The emollient agents stop it lathering too much and are what keeps the gel from drying your skin out. Having an older child who suffers from dry skin, I was keen to find a product suitable for Benjamin that wouldn’t cause him to get dry skin too. Mustela is great and really does keep the skins natural softness locked in.

I’ve also been using Mustela Vitamin Barrier Cream 1-2-3 which protects against nappy rash. It’s fragrance-free, paraben-free and preservative-free and has been clinically tested and formulated to minimize the risk of allergies. It can be used from birth until baby is out of nappies.

I’m going to say it works as Benjamin has never had nappy rash and hasn’t had any type of sore bottom in the slightest. Because he has never had nappy rash though, I can’t confirm that it sooths and aids recovery of the nappy rash but it has always meant that Benjamin’s bottom stays soft and well protected. I’ve occasionally used this on Isabella to when she first started to potty train and when she was getting used to staying dry at night, it was perfect for protecting her skin overnight.

Mustela have created some great products that should be part of every new baby hamper!
