oskar&ellen play castle

oskar&ellen is a family-run company based in Stockholm specialising in innovative and fun soft fabric toys to encourage a child’s imagination through role-play. They are known for their high quality products that are all individually hand made with unrivalled attention to detail.

We were sent a magical medieval castle with drawbridge and towers to review. The set is absolutely beautiful. It’s so well made and I can see this being a toy we use for years to come.IMG_1773.JPG

The castle set as well as having a castle with removable turrets and a moving drawbridge also includes a prince, a princess, a white horse, a dragon, a witch, and a treasure chest. It’s got the perfect cast to get really creative with.

One of Isabella’s favourite books is currently about a friendly dragon and she loves to use this set to play with her friend ‘Zog’. While at first she just imitated the story line in her play, she now loves to be more creative and she will make up stories of her own.IMG_1775.JPG IMG_1776.JPG

While the whole element of offering toys that develop imagination is key here, I also love the fact that it’s all made from fabric and therefore can be easily taken on trips and long journeys, it can store away in almost any space and it doesn’t get broken or damaged if dropped because, let’s face it, most three year olds are going to do this many times! It comes with a brilliant mesh bag to keep all of the pieces together too so you know that you can quickly tidy it away without the worry of losing any of the pieces.

The other important factor is that is can be hand washed. All toys can end up looking grubby when they are played with so often but a quick hand wash at 40°C and it will be good as new again. These gorgeous toys are made of 35% cotton and 65% polyester.

We have spent many a morning or afternoon playing with this gorgeous little set and I am definitely going to be investing in more of these for the future; there are so many different play sets available that I’m going to have to stop myself from buying them all this Christmas!
