Top Packing Tips for a Beach Holiday with Kids

Packing for a holiday with kids can seem daunting so with the holiday season fast approaching and thoughts of our first family holiday creeping in, I’ve put together my ultimate packing list for families.

Regardless of whether you are travelling abroad or not, there are essentials that you should always carry with you but this post is focused on a sun holiday abroad.

In your hand luggage:

  1. Travel documents kept all together:
  • Passports, travel insurance, driving licence, tickets – email yourself copies of your documents including passports.
  • Keys and wallet (with cards, and cash with UK and foreign currency)
  1. Mobile phone and charger (perhaps even a powerbank)
  2. Camera and charger (extra memory cards if you think you might need them)
  3. Snacks. So many snacks!
  4. Small first aid kit along with any medications/contraception/sanitary products
  5. Wet wipes
  6. Tissues
  7. Books/tablets/pens/pencils/paper/playing cards/small toys that are new. Basically anything you think will keep your little ones entertained on the flight.

If you have a baby/toddler in nappies:

  1. More nappies than you would usually use in the time frame you’re flying for
  2. Extra clothes for baby (and a spare top for you!)
  3. Dummies, bottles of milk or something they can suck for take-off and landing
  4. Muslins/bibs
  5. Light blanket

Electronics (some of these have already been covered in hand-luggage):

  1. Plug converters
  2. Chargers
  3. Tablets
  4. Cameras
  5. Phones
  6. Headphones
  7. Powerbanks
  8. Memory cards

Pack what you usually would for yourself and any other adult going– perhaps only two pairs of shoes though!

For your toddler/child:

Around the pool/beach:

  • 2x swimming costume
  • 1x UV swim suit/top
  • 2x hats which will protect neck and ears too!
  • 1X sunglasses
  • 1x hooded towel or poncho style towel for when they get out of the water and are cold
  • 3x shorts for the daytime
  • 5x t-shirts for the day time (these can be worn more than once as it’s just when they are out of the water)
  • Croc style shoes
  • Sun cream factor 50+ with 5* rating
  • Small beach/pool toys/ card games

General outfits:

  • 9x evening outfits (I took a couple of warmer options just in case)
  • 3x cardigans/jumpers
  • 1 or 2 pairs of evening shoes
  • 9x undies

  • 3 pairs of pjs (one long sleeve just in case)
  • 3X dummies (if you use them)
  • Favourite teddy/night time comforter
  • 2 x large muslins – sun shade/blanket
  • Toothbrush/paste

First Aid:

  • Liquid paracetamol and ibuprofen
