AD Vax Blade 2 Max : Review

I’ve been putting the Vax Blade 2 Max to the test over the past couple of months and it really hasn’t disappointed.

I wanted a vacuum that not only picked up general dust and dirt but one that could clean up after two messy children, a cat and builders! I know that I was asking a lot from the outset but you have to have aspirations, right!

Well, as soon as the Vax Blade 2 Max arrived I put it straight on charge; I wanted to get this machine ready to test as soon as I could. Now you should note that it is recommended to leave charging for 3 hours on the first charge to help the battery life. Once it was on charge, I started to look at what else came in the box.

In the Box

The Vax Blade 2 Max comes with a wall mount, dusting brush (which cleans surfaces like blinds or shelves) and tool caddy and a crevice tool. Currently, when you purchase the Vax Blade 2 Max, you get a free accessory pack worth £50! This pack includes a textile tool, stretch hose (perfect for when you vacuum the stairs or want to dust the blinds) flexible crevice tool (This is really fab at getting into those really hard to access areas where stubborn dust doesn’t want to come out!) and a tough dirt tool which is handy for when the kids bring their muddy wellies into the house! I think you actually get a lot for your money.

Does it actually work?

So my next big question – does it actually work and perform as well, if not better than a corded vacuum? The short answer is yes. Yes it does! I have had a big name brand no filter vacuum which we were relatively happy with. However, we were looking for a cordless with good power and suction to help make those everyday messes quicker and easier to clean up. As well as the kids mucky shoes, glittter from crafting and general mess of everyday life, the Vax Blade 2 Max is also great at picking up cat fur.

As we’ve been having quite a lot of building work done over the past few months, we’ve had a lot of dust and dirt to clear up. I thought our regular, no filter vacuum had done a relatively good job, until I re-vacuumed the same carpet half an hour after with my new Vax Blade 2 Max. Now, no judging me… this was what came out of the carpet AFTER we had already vacuumed! I was disgusted! I know the dust was worse currently because of all the building work and we also used a carpet cleaner which was powder sprinkled on the floor before being vacuumed up. But this was gross.

Impressive Power and Duration

I was so impressed with the power of this cordless 40V. It lasts around 45 minutes on a normal vacuum and has the ability to ‘boost’ to get an extra suction element if you have really stubborn dirt (this would reduce the run time though). I have yet to use the vacuum and have the battery run out on me. I tend to use it and charge it ready for the next use and don’t tend to do the whole house in one go so it’s got ample charge for me.

Seamless change from carpet to hardfloor

So, with both carpet and vinyl flooring downstairs, we needed something that would work well on both without having to faff around. The Vax Blade 2 Max does just that. At the touch of a button, you can turn the power head brushbar on or off depending on the flooring. The manoeuvrability on both hardfloor and carpet is impressive. I feel like I have total control and it’s easy to glide around and under furniture. The added bonus of a little LED light means you can even see when you’re getting into all those hard to reach (and see) areas and you know you’ve picked up all the dust and dirt.

At first I couldn’t quite get my head around this but once I’d had a play around, I soon got the hang of it and emptying the container is really easy. I find I have to open both the bottom compartment and then take the filter section out too to ensure it’s really clean and free of debris before putting it back together. This only takes a minute though so it really doesn’t bother me at all.

I am so impressed with the Vax Blade 2 Max. I really am converted from my other big brand vacuum and can’t believe I didn’t try it sooner.

  1. I’ve been a fan of Vax vacuums for years. This one looks super good and not to bulky.
