Mother & Daughter Time Made Better!

Mother and daughter time is so precious. You should take every opportunity you get to spend more time with them, and to make the most of every minute of it. As they get older, you’ll soon realise that their priorities change, and if the hormones hit them hard, you’ll be lucky to get a few hours a week with them! But a lot of you will have many years to come before that happens, so we’re here to show you how you can make the mother and daughter time you’re having at the minute even better. We’ll even show those of you who are going through the terrible teenager times how you can get some quality mother and daughter time in each week! So, have a read on, and see if we can make everything just that little bit better!

No Technology

We think this is a really good idea as it takes away all of the distractions, and allows you to put 110% effort into the mother and daughter time that you’re having. If you’ve got your phone with you, you’re so much more likely to pick it up and have a scroll through Facebook, or check your messages etc. You need to purchase things such as a dolls house, little dolls to go in it, colouring books, and anything else you can think of that will keep you both entertained for a couple of hours. You have to make sure you’re interacting with things as they are to be able to join in. So, you might have an imaginary tea party with the dolls in the dolls house, or you might turn in Picaso and see who can create the best picture. Being this engaged will create a want for your daughter to play with you in the future, which does help you to keep your bond stronger as they get older!

Girly Fun

Playing with dolls in doll houses is pretty girly, but as soon as your little girl gets out of the toddler years, and into the ages of around 7 or 8, they’re going to start moving on from a life of dolls, and prefer to do something even more girly. So, one thing that we recommend is taking them to a local day spa to have a beauty pamper day. Just because they’re only young, it doesn’t mean they won’t absolutely love being pampered. You could both get your nails and your feet done, and maybe even a mini massage! It’s the perfect and most relaxing day for both of you!

Let Them Decide

This one is actually really important as they go into the teenage years. Letting them decide what they want to do with you takes out that tantrum of having to do something with you. There’s nothing worse than dragging your teenage girl to the shops, if all they want to do is just stay in and have a film day. You’ll get so much more out of the day if it is something they’re picked, and they’re actually happy doing it!

Going screen-free is hard but totally worth it. We just did a 3 week screen detox and while we have now added some screen time back, I've noticed how much more connected we are when we have our "reading nights" versus our "movie nights."
