BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Active

This baby carrier has its critics, but it has been one of my best baby buys!

They say that it can be used from newborn but baby has to weigh at least 8 lbs/3.5 kg, so we couldn’t use it straightaway as our baby was only 6 lbs when she was born!

We couldn’t wait to try it out as soon as she was big enough, and in the early days I used it almost daily mainly at home when she would not let me put her down but I needed my hands to get on with things!  The ability to carry her safely and close to me, while at the same time having my hands free, was a lifesaver!  She would usually fall asleep while I was carrying her in it.

Now that she is a bit older and able to hold up her own head, I carry her forward facing, which she enjoys as she can look around.  I regularly use it while grocery shopping as it saves me trying to manoeuvre one of those massive supermarket trolleys designed to carry baby’s car seat (slight problem: I can’t see over the top and hence where I am going!), and also when popping out on short walks or if I am going somewhere with buggy access/storage problems.

It is simple to put on and take off, and can be easily adjusted from the front.  More importantly, it is easy to put baby in and because the front piece can be opened entirely, you can lift out your sleeping baby without waking him or her.

The Active has comfortable back support for improved carrying support and has been enhanced with an adjustable back support that provides comfortable stability for the lower back and helps take the weight off your shoulders.  Despite this, I do start to feel the pressure after a couple of hours.

I have the baby carrier in the mesh fabric, which is cool and breathable.  It also dries rapidly after machine-washing at 40°C.  I also invested in the fleece cover to keep my baby warm and dry when it’s cold and wet outside.

The BabyBjörn is more expensive than a lot of other baby carriers but I have found it invaluable and would definitely recommend it to other baby wearing mummies.

Tried and Testes

  1. I think this is a really classic carrier that has been updated to make it more parent and baby friendly! Great review, thanks for linking up with #TriedTested

  2. I’m a big fan of baby wearing but have never used a babybjorn – I much prefer my baby to be facing me to be honest.
Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested this week x

    • I know what you mean, but you can have baby forward facing in a Baby Bjorn. We have a sling carrier too, especially for when bubba is tiny! 🙂 x

  1. […] Isabella struggled a little!). We have previously reviewed the BabyBjorn Active (which you can see here), but the new We carrier is designed to be used on both your front and your back which is perfect […]
