Geronimo Festival Reiew

If you’ve never been to Geronimo Festival, you’re missing out! This fun packed family festival is a perfect day (or two!) out. There’s so much to do that you’ll find something to suit the whole family.

We went to Geronimo Festival at Knebworth House and as it was our first time, we didn’t really know what to expect. We arrived early to avoid any traffic and car parking issues so when we walked in, had time to grab a drink and suss out where we were going to go first. Although most things opened around 10am, there were a few bits already open when we arrived at 9:30 and certainly enough to walk around and entertain the children.

What’s there?

There are 10 different zones all spread out across the grounds so nothing feels too busy.

There’s of course the main stage where acts like Justin Fletcher, Mr Bloom, West End Kids and the Gruffalo.

The Arena where the Horsemen of the Knight, The Highland Games and The Tigers Motorcycle Display.

The Theatre Zone – you can see the Broadway Babies, Collar and Cuffs, 6 Foot Stories Sohan Bollywood and so many more. There’s even outdoor theatres showing Puppets Online and Circus Raj.

Amazing Animals are next and you can meet snakes, armadillo, parrots and more. It’s lovely to see the animals up close and actually be able to handle some. Make sure you find out what times the sessions are though so you don’t miss out!

Marvellously Musical is where you can make some noise with all things musical.

Curiosity Zone – take some shelter and get a little crafty. Build some Lego towers or get creative with Magformers. You can even get your hands dirty with some clay or messy play.

Hasbro City has so many activities from Play-Doh and Nerf to Transformers and My Little Pony.

Adrenaline Zone – you can try your hand at skateboarding, archery, axe throwing and rainbow bikes as well as fencing, football or crazy golf. If you like sport, there’s plenty to choose from here.

At the Circus Zone you can see the incredibly funny Cirque de Hilarious (just make sure you take a drink … it gets very hot in the tent!).

Lastly there’s a lovely fairground with a big wheel as well as other traditional rides.

In between the zones there’s a couple of other treats too. There’s an inflatable world which looked amazing (however, don’t forget your socks or you won’t be able to go on… we learned that from experience! No mum points for that one).  You can also ride donkeys or try out karting. There was literally so much on offer that we couldn’t do it all in one day.

Best bits

We tried to fit in as much as we could (steering away from the inflatables!) and had such a great day but the children of course had their favourite bits. Isabella loved the craft areas – she’s in her element there and I think she would have happily stayed another few hours crafting away. Benjamin loved seeing the animals and getting up close and personal and they both enjoyed the West End kids show at the end of our day. Little things like the giant sand pit were also perfect additions for the children while we sat and ate lunch. They were shaded and not too busy which meant all the children had plenty of space.

Facilities

With big outdoor festivals and families, often means lots of pit stops and Geronimo have thought hard about this. There are 4 shaded baby change areas that aren’t in stinky portaloos but instead are under very festival looking tents, there are  3 toilet ares for everyone else and these never seemed too busy so even if you’re little one was desperate, there wasn’t a long queue. There was also water stations so you could fill up your water for free which I thought was great. Although there were plenty of refreshment tents and stalls, you didn’t feel as though you had to keep buying drinks which in the heat we had would have been very expensive.

My only one issue was that the days activities weren’t brilliantly advertised. We weren’t given a map or itinerary upon entry and had to go and find one later in the day to find out times of shows. You can buy a programme once you’re inside for £5 but again, this isn’t made hugely clear.

Aside from that small niggle, we had such an amazing day and can highly recommend it for the whole family. Geronimo Festival 2019 tickets for Arley All are already on sale so don’t miss out!

*DISCLAIMER – WE WERE GIVEN THE TICKETS FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS REVIEW HOWEVER ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
