Need some half term inspiration?

With half tem well under way, I thought I’d put a quick post together about some local things going on that you might be interested in doing.

If you fancy a walk in the woods and your little ones love The Highway Rat head over to one of The Highway Rat trails. We went to Wendover Woods and had a rather chilly walk through the woods. My youngest loves The Highway Rat so we figured this was a must – I love Wendover Woods as you also have the wooden play equipment, musical instruments and of course, the café!

If you fancy something indoors, the Roald Dahl Museum are offering some free (with museum entry) craft activities. This half term they are making a beast in the Crafty Kitchen.  Each crodswoggling creature is inspired by the beasts in Roald Dahl’s books and all crafting materials will be provided. We loved the Roald Dahl Museum when we went but I would definitely say it’s not aimed at under 4s!

Bucks County Museum in Aylesbury are offering some fun craft activities too: Secret Keepsake Books on Wednesday 14 February where you can decorate your own keepsake book to keep your treasures in. Or Imaginarium Art Attack on  Thursday 15 February where you will be inspired to create your own work of art on canvas. You can drop in any time from 10am and 12 noon or 1pm and 3pm for just £3 per child. No need to book.

There’s always fun to be had at Odds Farm. We often find ourselves here even if it’s just to enjoy the soft play on a rainy day. It helps that we have annual passes as we don’t feel we have to stay for the whole day and can come and go as we please.

Make Your Own Recycled Robot; Thursday 15 February at Colne Valley Park Visitor Centre, Denham. If you’re keen to get creative, you can get creative and design any kind of robot you can from a pile of junk! Not only fun, but you’ll also learn about recycling! This costs £5 per child and also costs £2.50 per car for parking.

Bushcraft at Black Park (Afternoon Session): 14 February 2018 (Wexham, Slough) You can learn woodland bushcraft skills including fire lighting, whittling and wood splitting in Black Pine’s Camp. (10 years plus only). Terms apply so please see their website for more information.

Get creative at Bojangles Café and paint some pottery (just remember, you have to pick it up a week later!) We’ve spent many a wet afternoon here getting creative.

There’s always things like swimming, bowling, cinema, park, trampoline parks, and Go Ape to consider too.

I hope whatever you do this half term, you have a fantastic time!
