The Wycombe Swan Restaurant : Review

If you’re thinking about heading to the Wycombe Swan to watch the Panto or even to watch something else this festive period, have you thought about trying out the restaurant there?

We’ve been to the theater quite a lot over the years and we are going more and more now the children are getting old enough to enjoy the shows but what we’ve never really thought about before is eating there beforehand. Well the Wycombe Swan kindly offered us the chance to try their menu before this year’s amazing panto (full review here).

The Menu

While quite small, the menu seems to offer something for most of you and is really reasonably priced too. Think your typical pub grub and you’ll know what to expect. There is a kids menu too so you know that your picky eater will enjoy something from the menu.

The Food

The food was delicious and the portion sizes were generous – neither of the children could finish their meal.

We had garlic bread and olives to start and both were really tasty and flavourful. The garlic bread was warm and soft and not overpowering either; they went down especially well with the children!

The mains all came out together and while they wouldn’t win an award for presentation, the children enjoyed them. Isabella went for the burger and chips while Benjamin chose fish and chips. I too opted for the adult fish and chips while Ed tried the pork belly. Mine was really tasty and cooked really well. The chips were great and the fish was still moist. Ed thought the pork belly was a little dry but other than that said the flavour was great.

Timing

We arrived an hour before the show and we just about had time to eat and have one last toilet stop before the show started. The waiting staff were brilliant and couldn’t have been more polite and helpful but the service was slightly slower than I anticipated. The bar was incredibly bust though so I wonder if this had anything to do with the service?

I would definitely eat at the Wycombe Swan again pre show as it was tasty and great value. I would just ensure that I booked the table for a little longer than an hour before the show, just in case they were busy again. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and the whole service from the Wycombe Swan.

Have you eaten there before? What are your thoughts?
