This Is Bliss – My Perfect Holiday

As I close my eyes and dream
My whole world opens up.
I am in paradise.
This is bliss.

This paradise has changed in recent years
And yet it hasn’t changed at all.
Although there are palm trees aplenty
And sunshine all day
The sound of waves hitting the shore;
There’s also children’s laughter,
Jumping in the waves,
Never sitting still.
This is bliss.

We wake up early to the sun shining
But breakfast isn’t in bed.
We all sit down together
As laugher and chatter sweep across the table.
Excitement builds as the day begins to unfold.
What adventure shall we have today?
This is bliss.

That feeling of the sand on your toes,
The laughter as you splash in the pool,
The excitement of making new adventures,
The looks of pure delight.
This is bliss.

Together
We learn and explore all the land has to offer
Growing and discovering more each day.
Having fun and feeling free
No set schedule to follow.
This is bliss.

This bliss is not for everyone
This bliss might seem odd to some
But this bliss is my family on holiday
This is my bliss.

I didn’t know what to expect from a holiday after I had children but when we took my daughter on holiday when she was 18 months old, we knew that our perfect holiday had changed. It was more about what we could share with her instead of just doing what we wanted to do. We are yet to get the chance to go away as a family of four but we are excited to think that when we do, we will be able to adapt our perfect holiday once more and mould it to our new perfect.

The photos below are some of my favourite snaps from holiday’s Ed and I have shared together and our first family holiday too.
