Beach holidays for families: 7 not-to-miss spots in Europe

*collaboration with Emily Jones*

To enjoy great sandy beaches and crystal clear waters you don’t have to go too far, as in Europe there are many. While on a beach holiday with the family, going to a destination that has more to do than relax on the seaside can make all the difference in how relaxing and enjoyable the holiday is for everyone.

Here are 7 not-to miss spots for a family beach holiday:

Sicily, Italy

In Sicily, you can spend time at the sea, venture up the active volcano Mount Etna, visit the Valley of the Temples, play in the main piazza of any village or city, and attend food markets that you will remember forever. It is highly recommended in Sicily to rent a house near the beach, so that you have the privacy and space to relax into the Sicilian way of life.

Corsica, France

Corsica is a mountainous Mediterranean island and offers ‘island relaxation’, with the potential for plenty of outdoor adventure because of its geographical diversity. It is a part of France but uniquely has a distinct Italian culture. Here you’ll find crystal clear water, white sand beaches, Scandola Nature Reserve, and Cap Corse on the northeast coast to name a few highlights.

Corfu, Greece

The water is clear surrounding Corfu and this gorgeous island is not as flooded with tourists as some of the other spots in Greece are. You can spend some relaxed time at a gorgeous beach with shallow water, visit the waterpark Aqualand, visit the Corfu Aquarium, and go on a Nautilus Underwater Experience to name just a few activities.

Algarve, Portugal

Algarve is a region in Portugal with a ton of character, gorgeous seaside towns, sandstone cliffs, golden sand, and hidden beaches of Benagil caves. You can do water activities, visit the Zoomarine theme park, go to the Slide and Splash Waterpark, and just relax and have fun with your family.

Costa Brava, Spain

Costa Brava is located on the northeastern corner of Spain, consisting of little coves along the coastline. You can choose whichever location along the coast you’d like, and enjoy the peace and quiet of Costa Brava with your family. This region is popular for many European beach-goers because of its affordability and natural beauty. If you rent a car, it also makes checking out the other coves more convenient.

Malta is a gorgeous island where temperatures are moderate and English is widely spoken on the island of Malta, which are both encouraging for many families visiting from the UK. A popular family-friendly activity is to visit the Malta National Aquarium when you need a break from the beach and/or sun.

Dalmatia, Croatia

Croatia has become even more of a hot-spot in the recent years. It has gorgeous waters, beautiful landscapes, history and fresh food – all that create an ideal environment for a lovely beach holiday.

Going on a family holiday is a lovely way to create memories with your loved ones that you’ll carry with you and talk about forever.

Where is somewhere you’d like to go or have loved to visit for a beach holiday with your family?
